I am forever indebted to Debbie and Jenni of
Jenni's Mischief. They have spent so much
valuable time and information with me. A
million thank you's still, would not be enough.
All these websites have lots of great information!

This is where I got the idea for my cages.
A bit of advice....
Keep food frozen until needed. I get out a couple of weeks worth, and keep the rest frozen,
until needed. This will keep the food from losing vitamins.
Find other breeders.
Rats LOVE hammocks. I go through so many with my rats. You can make your own, even if you
don't know how to work a sewing machine, or don't have the time. Fleece is great!! You just cut
it, and go. It won't fray. I find my fleece on the section where the fabric is reduced, and
sometimes precut, and rolled up.
Some rats like exercise wheels, sometimes it can be a challenge to get it to fit in the cage.
Females need a minimum of a 12" wheel, males need about a 15" wheel.
I have heard great things about Martin's cages, but I would put something on the wire flooring
such as linoleum tile, plastic sewing canvas, or plexiglass (beware of sharp edges, and corners).
Don't waste your money on those small multicolored wire playpens. Rats can climb, and or jump
out of them with ease. I recommend using something tall, and slippery. I like to have really tall
cardboard, and make it big enough for me to get in with them.
Also has some great toy ideas!
Other Ratteries I recommend:
All the ratteries I have recommended are
based on the experience I've had with
these breeders, the health of the babies,
and how well socialized the rats I adopted
were, when I brought them home.
